Fermentation process of 1,3-propanediol
Our institute has made great efforts in research on the metabolic regulation of K. pneumoniae CGMCC 1.9131. Our institute has successfully conducted and optimized fed-batch fermentations under micro-aerobic conditions. Compared with fermentations under anaerobic conditions, energy consumption of our technology are significantly reduced. Final concentration of 100 g/l PDO and productivity of 2.6 g PDO/(l·h) are achieved via process optimization.
Industrial scale fermentations in 50 m3 fermentors has been fulfilled in Hunan Rivers Bioengineering Co. Ltd. Byproduct glycerol obtained in biodiesel production can be used as feedstock.
