The Institute of Applied Chemistry (IAC), belonging to the Department of Chemical Engineering, Tsinghua University, was founded in 1997 with 10 staff and 16 graduate students at present.
IAC is dedicated to the research of biorefinery of renewable resources for bioenergy and bio-based chemicals production. IAC is carrying on a number of national research programs, including “863” Plan, “973” Plan, NSFC and National High-tech Demonstration Programs etc. IAC is actively engaged in communication and cooperation with experts from America, Japan and European countries.
The research achievements of IAC are fruitful with more than 150 papers published (over 60 indexed by SCI), about 50 patents filed (28 granted in China) and 5 international patents in the stage of PCT (4 of them already granted in many countries).
